The Bambino Private Secondary School is a boarding school situated in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi. The school was founded in 1993 and is housed within a very modern and beautiful building.

Not all the pupils stay in the boarding house. The students, who do not live at the school, take the school bus or are driven to school by their parents. Some pupils also walk to school.

The school also has a prep school and a playschool. The school is unique in that it is the only school in Malawi, where the pupils have the opportunity to learn German as a foreign language. The University does not offer German as a subject either. In addition to German, the pupils also learn English and French. English is the official language of the country, due to the fact that Malawi used to be a British colony. Our students also have the following subjects: Social Studies, History, Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Art, Agriculture and Religion.

German as a foreign language

Since April 2009, German has been taught as a second foreign language. The pupils of the first grade have absolutely no knowledge or understanding of the German language. This is due to the fact that German is not taught in the Malawian prep schools.

The school has a total of 200 pupils and 16 teachers. Both the O-Level and A-Level qualifications are offered by the school.

The school day commences at 7:30 and each lesson lasts 40 minutes. On average, there are 20 students in each class. Unfortunately the school does not currently have an exchange programme. The main focus of the school is its exceptional academic quality. In addition to the normal lessons, a variety of extracurricular sport is offered. On Fridays, for example, the students have basketball, volleyball, soccer, hockey and tennis. On Thursday afternoons the pupils visit different clubs, such as the dance club, the animal and plant club, the debating club and the U.N. club.
